Scholarship Opportunities

The Latinx Veterinary Medical Association is collaborating with Zoetis to offer three Diamante Scholar scholarships of $3,000 (USD) per scholarship to current veterinary students for the upcoming Fall 2024 semester. The deadline for submission of applications is 11:59 PM EST Sunday, September 22nd, 2024. Scholarship winners will be announced in October during Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month via email and Latinx VMA social media. Winning essays will be posted on the LVMA website.

Latinx VMA Diamante Scholar Student Scholarship Requirements: 

• Must identify as Latinx, have a Latin American/Hispanic background (including Brazil), and be currently studying in a DVM (or equivalent) program in the United States, Canada, or the Caribbean (including Ross University, St. George’s University, and St. Matthew’s University).
• Must be in good academic standing. An official transcript showing a GPA above 2.0 will be requested from the winners.
• Must be a student member of the national Latinx VMA. You can register and pay annual dues at https://latinxvma.org/.
• Submit a personal statement of 350-500 words maximum describing your current and/or previous contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in academia, the workplace, or your community and how you plan to include these efforts as a licensed professional. (Remember to NOT mention your institution nor any information that may identify where you study such as the name of the state).

Note: When evaluating applications, we will carefully consider several key factors, including the statement of purpose, the clarity and focus of your writing, the organization and overall quality of the essay, the potential impact on the Latinx VMA community, and your personal accomplishments or goals. These criteria will guide our review process, so please ensure that your submission reflects these aspects clearly and thoughtfully.
