2023 LVMA SCholars Scholarships

1 Platinum Scholars Scholarship

$10,000 each

The Latinx Veterinary Medical Association is collaborating with Jade Vets to offer one Platinum scholarship of $10,000 (USD) to current veterinary students for the upcoming Fall 2023 semester. The deadline for submission of applications is 11:59 PM EST Friday September 22nd, 2023. Scholarship winners will be announced in September and October during Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month via email and Latinx VMA social media. Winning essays will be posted on the LVMA website.

Latinx VMA Platinum Scholar Student Scholarship Requirements: 

  • Must identify as Latinx; someone with a Latin American/Hispanic background (including Brazil) living in the United States, Canada, or the Caribbean. 
  • Veterinary student currently enrolled and in good standing at a school of veterinary medicine in the United States or Canada. Students enrolled at Ross, St. George’s, and St. Matthew’s universities are also welcome to apply! 
  • Must be in good academic standing (minimum 2.0 GPA) as evidenced by a copy of unofficial transcript (screenshot) OR complete and submit the Good Standing Form found below.
  • Evidence of Good Standing Form must be signed by an Associate Dean for Academic or Student Affairs. 
    • Must be a student member of the national LVMA. You can register and pay annual dues at https://latinxvma.org/.
    • Submit a personal statement of 350-500 words maximum describing a challenge you have faced/overcome on your journey to this point & how you plan on helping the next generation of aspiring Latinx veterinarians overcome/avoid that challenge.

    6 Diamante Scholars Scholarships

    $3,000 each

    The Latinx Veterinary Medical Association is collaborating with Hill’s Pet Nutrition to offer three Diamante Scholar scholarships of $3,000 (USD) per scholarship to current veterinary students for the upcoming Fall 2023 semester. The deadline for submission of applications is 11:59 PM EST Friday, September 22nd, 2023. Scholarship winners will be announced in September and October during Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month via email and Latinx VMA social media. Winning essays will be posted on the LVMA website.

    Latinx VMA Diamante Scholar Student Scholarship Requirements: 

    • Must identify as Latinx; someone with a Latin American/Hispanic background (including Brazil) living in the United States, Canada, or the Caribbean. 
    • Veterinary student currently enrolled and in good standing at a school of veterinary medicine in the United States or Canada. Students enrolled at Ross, St. George’s, and St. Matthew’s universities are also welcome to apply! 
    • Must be in good academic standing (minimum 2.0 GPA) as evidenced by a copy of unofficial transcript (screenshot) OR complete and submit the Good Standing Form found below.
